What I learned from my “Chuck” trip to WonderCon

Contains a few Spoilers!

From the Preview:

Chuck’s dad, played by Scott Bakula, is named Stephen J. Bartowski

Big Mike is bangin’ Morgan’s mom.

Big Mike is possibly going to upgrade Morgan’s employee status at the Buy More

It’s funny to hear Emmitt Milbarge say “Well bring it on bitches!”

Awesome has a bachelor party that John Casey actually attends! The strippers are not what they had hoped for so I’m thinking Jeff and Lester had something to do with it?

Agent Forrest seduces Captain Awesome and it looks like he enjoyed it.

We saw scenes from versus the Beefcake, which airs tonight.

While outside of the Ellie and Chuck’s apartment, we see Sarah telling Chuck, “Ellie is watching, we better sell it.” Hmm… rough times for Charah?

Charah moment: Chuck to Sarah: “I just want to be able to tell Ellie the truth. About who I am and what I do and how I really feel about you. I can’t believe how much the United States government has hurt the people that I love.”

Sarah: “Well maybe it’s time for the United States government to help you.”

Sarah helps Chuck find his dad. Before Chuck’s dad opens the door to his trailer, it looks like Chuck and Sarah were having a little moment.

The last time Ellie saw her dad was when he told her he was going to go make some pancakes.

Chuck talks to Ellie about forgiving their dad because he’s all they’ve got. What does this mean? No Mama Bartowski? Where are all the moms at?

Another Charah moment: Chuck: “I am going to get this thing out of my head, one day I will, and when I do, I will live the life that I want with the girl that I love.” Me?

Arnold Vosloo is a bad ass who asks Chuck why he would tell his team not to bring guns on a mission. Chuck answers: Guns make things too easy and I like my spies to be tough. Queue Casey firing his gun at Arnold Vosloo’s character. Chuck to Casey: “You had a gun?” Casey to Chuck: “I always have a gun.”

Chuck to possibly go in a bunker? Or does Beckman just want a ‘hang out’ buddy?

Ted Roark has a scene where he tells his men to kill the CIA agent (Chuck). Stephen Bartowski replies: he’s my son! To that TR says: “Congratulations! Kill his son.”

And just a quick question. Can the whole preview still be called a “preview” if some of the scenes showed have already aired? Just wondering. Unless they are going to air Chuck vs. the Suburbs again. From the Q&A:

Josh Schwartz said that there will be two weddings this season. As a Charah shipper, I got really excited for our favorite couple but then I came back to reality. My thinking is, this has to do with a certain Big ‘Michael’ and a hot ‘mama.’

Seeing as how there weren’t any wedding scenes in the footage, I wonder if there’s even going to be an Ellie/Awesome wedding. What if the two weddings are involve Big Mike/Morgan’s Mom and Morgan/Anna?

Zac enjoyed working with Scott Bakula who apparently got the Chuck “hair flip” from the hair department.

Zac liked the vs. the Wookie episode because he felt like it encompassed all the genres and balanced it in a really well thought way. That or the fact that it was called vs. the Wookie. He also liked vs. the Seduction because it balanced out the genres and John Laroquette was in it. He actually loves them all because he has a job.

Joshua’s favorite episodes: vs. the Best Friend, vs. Santa Claus, and the one with the deMorgan (vs. the deLorean). See a pattern? He joked that he also liked the Chuck webisodes.

Chuck’s first move is called “the Morgan” and it will appear in the episode titled, “Chuck vs. the First Kill”

Josh Schwartz asked the crowd if the fans would be willing to barge the NBC studios for a Season 3. From all the yelling and applause, I would say they are. One person said that they would do it for Adam Baldwin. Josh responded with “good enough for me.”

Chris Fedak, Josh Schwartz, and Ali Adler wrote the finale as a season finale, not a series.

Jill will be back. No promises on whether Bryce will or won’t. Zac did a crowd poll about the issue and some people actually want him back. Interesting.

How are Zac, Yvonne, Adam, and Josh like their characters? Yvonne said that she’s Australian and it’s a bit far off from her CIA agent character but like Sarah, she is quite active, so she likes to run around and punch her co-stars on the set. Adam is skillful with weapons. Josh is nothing like Morgan because he is quite the ladies man and is a fine dresser. But in reality, Josh and Zac are a lot like their characters in terms of their love of comics, movies, video games… and you know.

Yvonne loves kicking ass. It doesn’t take her long to learn/get ready for her fight scenes/sequence because she’s been doing them for two seasons now. So she just “whips it out real quickly.” This got a lot of laughter from both Yvonne and everyone else in the crowd. Her favorite fight scenes were in vs. the Nemesis where she and Bryce were back to back and in vs. the Cougars with Nicole Richie.

Which character would they want to play other than their own? Yvonne wants to be Lester because he’s funny. Josh wants to be Sarah Lancaster so he can look at himself all day and take lots of showers. Adam wants to be Captain Awesome because he gets to make out with Ellie. Zac wants to be none other than Major John Casey.

At one point during the Q&A, a fan got really nervous in the middle of asking his question and he tripped over his words. Zac was kind enough to let him know that “It’s okay. We’re just human beings.” How awesome is he?

Before the panel ended, Zac, on behalf of his co-stars, thanked all the fans of the show. He said that it is the reason why they have jobs and they are extremely grateful.

Tips for San Diego Comic Con-bound (because we all know that Chuck is about to get a Season 3 and we’re all hoping they’ll make an appearance there).

Plan ahead. As in, have a plan. Know where you’re going, how to get there, how you’ll get there (transportation). Duh right? You’d be surprised.

Pre-register for a four-day pass. I know it’s a little expensive, $75, but Comic Con announces their programming only two weeks before the event and tickets are usually (as in, always) sold out by then. In the past, the Chuck cast have appeared on a Friday and Saturday.

Search the internet (yelp!) and find out about people’s past experiences. Look for the veteran because they know their con(s).

Pack: digital camera, video camera, extra memory cards/battery, and Chuck paraphernalia in case there’s a signing.

Bring food! You’ll probably rush to the con to try to be one of the first people in line and not think about the fact that you’ll be waiting there for a few hours. You’ll starve! Sandwiches and ready-to-eat fruits are always good.

Wear comfortable shoes! You’ll be sorry if you don’t.

If you’re planning on asking a question during the panel, be aware that only the first 10-15 people actually get to do so. The moderator starts the Q&A portion around 20 minutes before the panel ends so get to the mic ASAP!

Bring money. Yes, you’ll need some.

They give out a lot of freebies at Comic Con but before you take them, ask yourself, do I really need this plastic storm trooper mask? If you do, by all means, take it and put it in your ‘free’ oversized network bags.

Have fun and don’t be the person who stops and parks themselves in the middle of the aisle.

SDCC is from Thursday, July 23, to Sunday, July 24.
