Zachary Levi has an admittedly enviable job: “I get paid to play make-believe.” But it’s another perk of playing the title role in NBC’s “Chuck” that really tickles him — appearing in a graphic novel based on the further adventures of his TV alter ego, Chuck Bartowski. “I grew up as a comic book fan, so to see myself in comic book form is absolutely ridiculous,” Levi said. “Like, who gets that?” Or what electronics store employee gets to be a spy with an attractive female agent posing as his girlfriend? That’s exactly the question that Chuck, the geeky Stanford drop-out who also works as a member of the Buy More’s computer-tech Nerd Herd, has asked himself. His best friend Morgan (Joshua Gomez) and sister/roommate Ellie (Sarah Lancaster) would wonder the same thing if they knew his secret job. The unlikely hero is teamed with his handlers, CIA agent and love interest Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski) and Maj. John Casey (Adam Baldwin) of the National Security Agency. Sometimes they don’t get that Chuck just wants to lead a normal life. That’s not to mention some upcoming drama involving his estranged father (Scott Bakula) and his father’s rival (Chevy Chase). Levi recently talked about his character’s complicated situation, what might happen if there’s a Season 3, and more. So will Chuck ever get the girl — Sarah or otherwise? God willing, the show will go, I don’t know, seven seasons or however long we’re supposed to go and by that time Chuck and Sarah will be together — but at the very least that they both find love on some level. But at least he has his sister, Ellie. It is basically the entire heart of the show. . . . There’s definitely heart there with Morgan, but all the Buy More stuff tends to be the comedy of the show, and the heart of the show is just with Ellie and [her live-in fiance] Awesome, but specifically Ellie. Stuck in what seems to be a dead-end job, his brain becomes a hot commodity after critical information is downloaded into his brain. Chuck’s smart, adorable, and the ultimate geek.
